Having studied with some of Toronto’s most prestigious players such as Mark Eisenman, Kelly Jefferson, Mike Murley, Steve Koven, and Casey Sokol at York University, Laura has gained a wealth of experience as a solo performer, band leader, and teacher. She has played in many jazz ensembles and most recently in the award-winning band, Vibonics. In 2012 Vibonics were featured on Breakfast Television Edmonton and in 2013 the band recorded their second studio album and hit the road to perform on two headlining nation-wide tours.
With experience playing venues such as The Sony Centre, The Gladstone Hotel, The Horseshoe Tavern, and The El Mocambo, Laura has special event experience, performing at weddings, engagements, private parties, and restaurants. Integrating jazz, pop, and R&B to create a sound that is all her own, Laura draws inspiration from such artists as the smooth and sultry Diana Krall, and Bill Evan’s sweeping melodies on the piano. As far as being a “jazz performer”, Laura T. does not consider herself to be defined by only one genre of music. As a formally trained pianist and vocalist with a BFA honours in Music, Laura continually strives to share her passion for music with audiences and students.
